I am now addicted to another TV series! This is craziness! House is a show about doctors and different cases that come in. Even though I am a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy, the two shows are really different. House is more technical and medicine oriented whereas Grey’s Anatomy includes a bit of outside drama too. I’ve been sucked into both of them! These shows are my time away from school…gotta love them!
So I didn’t do very hot on my physics test that I took the last time I posted. I think it might be due to the fact that class is at 8 a.m. and I am just not a morning person. This meant that I didn’t wake up for class or I’d wake up too late like 8:05 and by the time I got there, only 5-10 minutes were left. So this time, I’m trying to improve by making sure I wake up. I have my roommate AND my mom call me a bunch of times until I wake up. So far, for exam 3, I have been to all 5 lectures! I’m really proud of myself!
I just took my physics exam this morning. I’m extremely nervous about it because this time around, I really can’t tell how I did. The problem with studying physics, for me at least, is that I never feel prepared. No matter how many practice problems I do or just plain old studying, it never seems to be enough. We’ll see how things turn out on Friday…when we get our grades.
Recently, I was reading CNN Health and there was a really interesting article about a group of researchers at Vanderbuilt University who found a genetic link to autism. There is a gene called MET that is involved with brain development, regulation of the immune system, and repair of the gastrointestinal system. Autism affects these systems. There is a single gene mutation in this gene that increases the risk of developing autism. Previously, autism was thought to only run in families. However, this finding proves that autism is genetically linked. There is great potential on this finding in terms of helping to find a possible cure for autism.
I’m not exactly sure how I feel about the marketing exam…I went through the test and it seemed to be going pretty good. Then I did the mistake of going back and really analyzing my answers. This just led to a disaster and all of a sudden I wasn’t very confident about a lot of my answers. So, I really can’t predict how the test went…I guess I’ll have to wait until grades come out. *sigh*
Now that this test is over with, I get to study for biochem. The studying never ends…Even though I have to do this, I’m excited because One Tree Hill comes on tonight! After some studying, I’ll spend some time relaxing, then I get to study again…
Finance 311 was a pleasant surprise today. During class, our teacher announced that we should work in our cohort project groups on the financial statements. However, she said that we were free to leave if we wanted to. This was because the people who were supposed to discuss the financials didn’t come. So…we got leave early! It was really exciting because this is my only class on tuesdays.
I read this article on CNN Health that discussed how there is an active ingredient in marijuana that may prevent the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. The active ingredient is called THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). It basically prevents the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine, from breaking down. This finding could have a huge potential in the medical field. It brings doctors and scientists one step closer to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
